Adding a second Network Interface Card to Snare Central server
SUMMARY
Apr 23, 2021
Snare Central Server is capable of using multiple network interfaces.
The collection services listen on all available interfaces for data. Once you have installed the hardware, the network device is likely to be shown as eth1, eth2, eth3 and so on, depending on the number of interfaces available.
How to add the network interface
Log in as the 'snare' user from the console, or using SSH, and from the Snare Central Administration Menu that appears.
Select Networking.
Select IP Address.
From the list of available interfaces displayed, select the one you want to modify.
Provide the new IP address.
Provide the netmask as a CDIR prefix.
And the IP address of the default Gateway for this NIC.
The Administrator menu will ask you for the snare user password for these changes to take effect.
Please note that once these network settings have been changed, all the server’s network devices are restarted. This will close your current ssh session so it is necessary to open a new one.
