Some commonly encountered issues to help you troubleshoot your Snare Server.

Installation Issues

  1. Error rebooting Snare Server after installation

  2. Unable to log into the Snare Server

  3. How to reset the Snare Server root password

  4. How to reset the administrator password for Snare Server

Server not receiving logs

  1. Issue between the server and the agent/device. Check firewalls, port and routing connectivity between agents and the server. See Firewall Ports

  2. Check the Snare Health Checker for any issues, such as disk space, inode, CPU load, collection system. Investigate any reported issues.

  3. Check the Status | Monitor Live Data screen to verify the hostname/IP address of the device being collected. In some cases the events are logged under a different hostname or IP than expected. This can be a result of internal DNS or hostname settings.
