TERM

DEFINITION

Cube

  • Group of indexes

Datablock

  • Smallest building blocks of an eMite page

  • Its two main purposes are: to control data, and to present/visualize data on a page

Dimension

  • Qualitative and do not total a sum

  • Often used to slice or filter measures.

  • E.g., sales region, employee, location, date

eMite

  • Next-generation business intelligence platform that combines analytics, correlation, capacity performance, availability, and KPI management into a single out-of-the-box web-based dashboard solution, to provide organizations with real-time insight into their data

  • Leading analytics and dashboard solution for Genesys, Amazon Connect, and Snare.

Index

  • Like a database table, but it structures data in a way that provides very fast access to that data

  • Measures and dimensions can be selected from an index within the eMite interface

KPI

  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI)

  • A measurable value that demonstrates how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives

  • E.g., (in contact centers) Service Level, Abandonment Rate

Measure

  • Numerical value that mathematical functions work on

  • I.e, a Sales Revenue column is a measure because you can find out a total or average the data

Metric

  • Time-series data, or data points with time stamps

  • E.g. Server Response Times, Device and Service Status, Performance Monitoring Data

Page

  • A single dashboard view in the eMite interface

  • Multiple pages can be created and shared

Report

  • Saved whenever a cube report datablock is configured, allowing its results to be used in other datablocks like a status gauge

  • Saves the cube report configuration to be used elsewhere

SATI

SA+

Big Data Analytics

  • Process of examining big data to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, and other useful information that can be used to make better decisions

  • Can analyze huge volumes of data, which conventional analytics and business intelligence solutions can't touch

BI

  • Business Intelligence (BI)

  • Set of techniques and tools for the transformation of raw data into meaningful and useful information for business analysis purposes

  • Capable of handling large amounts of unstructured data to help identify, develop, and otherwise create new strategic business opportunities

  • Targets easy interpretation of these large volumes of data

BVD

  • Business Value Dashboard (BVD)

  • A dashboard that connects IT measurements to key business measurements

  • Assists to validate and communicate the value of IT and offers a higher level of maturity of IT measurement, connecting to key business indicators

CMDB

  • Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

  • A repository that acts as a data warehouse for information technology organizations

  • Intended to hold a collection of IT assets that are commonly referred to as Configuration Items (CI), as well as descriptive relationships between such assets

Correlation Engine

  • Automatically identifies correlations between business-related metrics (e.g., transaction volume, response time, user count) with IT operational metrics such as CPU, memory, I/O, etc.

Data Aggregation

  • Any process in which information is gathered and expressed in a summary form for purposes such as statistical analysis

  • A common aggregation purpose is to get more information about particular groups based on specific variables such as age, profession or income

Data On-boarding

  • A flexible plug-in architecture that automatically transforms, enriches, and positions data from any third-party or custom-written system

Metric Data

  • Real-time (or near real-time) data including response times, device and service status, and performance monitoring

Multidimensional Service Modelling

  • Provides multiple viewpoints of your systems for both business and IT

Multi-tenancy

  • A software architecture in which a single instance of a software runs on a server and serves multiple tenants

  • A Tenant is a group of users who share a common access with specific privileges to the software instance

OLAP

  • Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)

  • Powerful technology behind many BI applications for data discovery - including capabilities for limitless report viewing, complex analytical calculation, and predictive “what if” scenario (budget, forecast) planning

Scrum Sprint

  • Also called Iteration

  • Regular and repeatable work cycle wherein development work is confined as adhered to by eMite in the Scrum method of Agile software development

  • Every sprint begins with the sprint planning meeting, in which the product owner and the team discuss which stories will be moved from the product backlog into the sprint backlog

SIP

  • Service Intelligence Platform (SIP)

  • eMite’s SIP offers industry-unique capabilities for on-boarding multiple management sources, as well as advanced and cohesive analytics for service and business performance, capacity optimization, change impact analysis and operations-to-service desk workflow and reporting.

SD

  • Standard Deviation (SD)

  • A measure, in statistics, that is used to quantify the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of data values

  • A standard deviation close to 0 indicates that the data points tend to be very close to the mean (also called the expected value) of the set

  • A high standard deviation indicates that the data points are spread out over a wider range of values

SaaS

  • Software as a Service (SaaS)

  • A software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is centrally-hosted

  • Sometimes referred to as "on-demand software"

  • Typically accessed by users using a thin client via a web browser

Splunk

  • An American multi-national corporation which produces software for searching, monitoring, and analyzing machine-generated big data via a web-style interface

  • Splunk (the product) captures, indexes, and correlates real-time data in a searchable repository from which it can generate graphs, reports, alerts, dashboards, and visualizations

SCOM

  • System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

  • A cross-platform data center management system for operating systems and hypervisors

  • Uses a single interface that shows state, health, and performance information of computer systems

  • Provides alerts generated according to some availability, performance, configuration, or security situations being identified

  • Works with Microsoft Windows Server and Unix-based hosts

Transactional Data

  • Historic data including support tickets, change requests, incidents, and event monitoring

Z-Score

  • A statistical measurement of a score's relationship to the mean in a group of scores

  • 0 Z-Score means the score is the same as the mean

  • Can be positive or negative, indicating whether it is above or below the mean and by how many standard deviations
