Licenses

The Snare Agent Manager controls the licenses that are required for the Snare enterprise agents to function. There are two types of licenses, the SAM key license and the feature license detailing the agents that are licensed.  Users should upload both their SAM key license and feature license as they receive them. 

The following menu items are available:

Registered licenses

Display the list of licenses registered to your organization.

The following information is displayed:

• Type. The type of license is either Full (displayed in green), or Temporary (displayed in gold).
• Support Reference. The identification of the license, as determined by its generation in SLDM. Generally in format 'ABC-ABC'.
• Support Expires. Displays the date the support on the license expires.  Date will display in green if a date in the future, gold for support expiring within the month, and red for in the past. Corresponding icons are a tick, exclamation mark, and a cross.  As the SAM Key does not expire, there may not be a date for this field.
• License Expires. Displays the date the license expires, and thereby the features for that license will not be functional after this date.  An agent license that is subscription based will display this date.  Date will display in green if a date in the future, gold for support expiring within the month, and red for in the past. Corresponding icons are a tick, exclamation mark, and a cross.
• Features. List of features on the license. The SAM Key is always first if present, with a corresponding key icon. Next (if present) are the features that function on SAM itself, such as the binary distribution (agent upgrader). The agent features (Enterprise Logging, MSSQL Host Logging) are then displayed ordered by usage.
• Status. Displas the status of the license.  The status of a SAM Key may be Active, Expired or Obsolete.  The status of a Feature license may be either Active, Expired, Obsolete or Support Expired.
• Usage. For agent feature licenses we provide a usage count in the format of USED/ALLOWANCE. The cell is greyed out if the feature is not for an agent. Selecting the link will display the list of all agents using this feature on this license.
• Auto Assign. Enable the user to use Austo Assign to assign licenses automatically.  Toggle will display green for on, or blue for off.
• A trash icon is displayed that enables the user to remove a license, if required.

Add a new license

Licenses may be added by either uploading the license file (.sl) via drag and drop, or by pasting the contents of the license file manually.  Selecting the option Auto assign agents to new license takes the guess work out of assigning the agents to the license.

Usage

Displays the summary of the licenses used per feature for the v5 Snare Enterprise Agents (Modern), the v4 Snare Enterprise Agents (Legacy) and the tally of OpenSource Agents. It will show the status and allowance of any particular license feature, and will be warned when the license allowance is exceeded.

Key ID's

The Snare Agent Manager license is generated by Intersect Alliance based on the Key Ids where it is installed.  When a new license is required ensure these Key Ids are provided by copying them to clipboard.
