Adding Licenses to SAM

When migrating to SAM based licensing, licenses still need to be applied to the SAM server for distribution. SAM licenses come in the form of “feature licenses” that can contain multiple entitlements to Snare products. Once assigned to SAM, these licenses can be enabled for automatic distribution to Snare agents using the “Auto-assign” capability. The below steps detail the process of assigning a feature license to SAM:

Pre-requisites

Steps

  1. Login to the SAM select “Licenses”->”KeyIDs” in the left hand navigation menu.

  2. Copy the unique set of “KeyID’s” assigned to your particular SAM install.

  3. Login to the Snare License & Download manager Snare License & Download Manager | Intersect Alliance and select “Licenses”->”My Licenses” from the left hand navigation menu.

  4. Select “Enter KeyIDs” on the license you wish to assign to the SAM.

  5. Paste the “KeyIDs” into the popup and select “Generate License(s)”

  6. The license will now change to a “Generating” state, this may take a few minutes. Whilst waiting you can assign a label to the license to ensure you know which licenses are allocated to which systems. Just click the “+Add” button on the license row.

  7. Once the license has generated, click “Download”.

  8. Log back in to the SAM server and select “Licenses”->”Add new License” in the left hand navigation menu. Then either drop the files onto the “Drop files here.” box or click it to be presented with a “Browse” window.

  9. You will then be re-directed to the “register licenses” page where you will see the allocated license. If you require SAM to automatically issue licenses to agents that request a license, ensure “Auto Assign” is checked.

This process can be repeated for multiple license entitlements.
