The wizard guides the user through the setup and configuration of SAM, including adding networks, changing passwords, applying licenses and more. Select Next to move to the next step or Previous to go back to the last page. You may exit the Setup Wizard at any time by selecting the Exit Wizard button.
Add Licenses

There are two types of licenses, the SAM Key license and the Agent feature license detailing the agents types and quantities that are licensed. Users should upload both their SAM Key license and agent feature license on this screen. Note: it is expected many users will have at least the evaluation licenses since SAM Key/feature licenses are host locked and Key Ids are required.

Update Auth Key & Agent Passwords

At the time of installation the Snare Enterprise Agents and the SAM have the same predefined authentication key, and it is highly recommended to update this. To update the Authentication Key between agents and SAM, you may either click the button to auto generate a new key, or copy and paste your Authentication Key into the input field and select Replace Key.
Add A Network & Scan

Select Add Network for SAM to scan and find the agents. When the network is scanned:
- the legacy agents will be listed, and licenses will be allocated based on agents found
- the version 5 agents will be listed, and SAM will try to license them. Note: In order to license these agents, the agents must be updated with the SAM IP, so they know how are able to communicate with each otherSAM. On the version 5 agent, set the Access Configuration | SAM IP to the IP of where SAM is installed.
All The Agents

This displays all the agents the scanning of your network has found. From here you can filter, sort and assign tags to your agents.
The Dashboard

The SAM dashboard provides a snapshot of the agents including features and types, licenses and the networks.
Update Your Password
The last step is to update your password. It is recommended that this password is updated immediately to ensure secure protection of SAM and its agents. Passwords must comply with the following criteria:
- Meet at least 3 out of the following 4 complexity rules:
- At least 1 uppercase character (A-Z)
- At least 1 lowercase character (a-z)
- At least 1 digit (0-9)
- At least 1 special character (punctuation)
- At least 10 characters
- At most 128 characters
- Not more than 2 identical characters in a row (e.g. 111 not allowed).
Select Finish to end the Setup Wizard or Go To Dashboard to view the snapshot of SAM status.
