Introduction to the Snare Server
Snare Central allows a System Administrator to define, track and report on events occurring on the server. This section introduces the Snare System, and in particular, Snare Central.
Logging on to Snare Central
The Snare Central user interface can be accessed by any web browser by typing in the URL (server address) in the browser address bar. Any of the methods below work to access the Snare Central user interface:
- The Domain Name Service (DNS) name,
Example: snareserver.dept.gov
- Window domain name, or
Example: snareserver as http://snareserver/
- The IP address of Snare Central.
Example: 192.168.1.1
Once the Snare Central login page loads, a user name and password need to be entered to authenticate access to the Snare Central pages.

Initial Configuration
License
After the first logon to the web interface using the username 'administrator' and the password you selected during the installation process, you will be presented with the Key IDs of your new system. These IDs will be required to generate your final license. You can log in to the customer portal, Snare License and Download Manager (SLDM), to generate the license, or contact your Snare representative and provide these Key IDs.
Your license can be installed using the License upload form displayed to the right.
If you need to return to the license page in the future, you can access it through the Snare Health Checker, or alternatively, you can point your browser at it directly by going to http://snarecentral.mycompany.com/Setup/License.php (where snarecentral.mycompany.com is the DNS address or IP address of your Snare Central server).
Once the license has been correctly loaded, the Snare Central Configuration Wizard will execute, allowing you to specify initial configuration settings.
