Snare Windows Desktop Agent v5.7.1 was released on 19th April 2023.

Security Updates

  • 3rd party libraries upgraded: 

    • OpenSSL upgraded to version 3.0.8

New Features and Enhancements

  • Default Advanced Audit policies are now available after upgrade to this version, if user chooses to enable Advanced Auditing for the first time. In previous version these default policies were available on installation/reinstallation only

  • Multi-byte character sets (Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, etc.) are now supported in:

    • FIM policy - directory path

    • RIM policy - registry key path

    • FAM policy - directory path

    • FAM policy - registry key path

    • Log Audit - directory path

  • Added ability to use wild card in the middle of directory path to audit log files (Log Configuration) 

  • Windows File System and Registry auditing will be automatically enabled if there are any FAM/RAM policies configured, eliminating the need to manually enable File System and Registry auditing on the machine

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed missing successful update or deletion messages for Audit Policies
