Is v4 of the Snare Enterprise Agents still supported?

The latest versions of Snare Enterprise Agent for Windows, Snare Enterprise Epilog for Windows and Snare Enterprise Agent for MSSQL are at version 5. The Unix v5 versions of the agents will be available at a later time.

The current stream of these Windows based agents Snare Enterprise Agent for Windows (v4.3), Snare Enterprise Epilog for Windows (v1.8) and Snare Enterprise Agent for MSSQL (v1.4) (also known as legacy agents) will be supported/reach end of life at the end of January 2019 with critical bug updates, and security updates as needed, as we understand organizations require some time to plan, manage the upgrade to version 5.

Version 5 is a significant upgrade from version 4, and contains many features and enhancements, and new look and feel. See knowledge base article v5 Snare Agents Features and Enhancements and review before you perform any production upgrades along with the checklist and v5 readiness v5 Configuration Checklist. As with any new versions we recommend that you test the software in your environment before you deploy to production systems.

The v5 upgrade requires the usage of  the Snare Agent Manager (SAM) for most organisations if your agents are networked, this is also available from the customer portal, SLDM download area. It is used to manage your agents and all your agent licensing needs. Please refer to the user guides for v5 agents and SAM. For environments that have small numbers of agents in isolated networks and don’t want to use a SAM you will require individual 'standalone' licenses for each agent installation, also can also be made available from SLDM.

For customers that have the Snare Server (Snare Central) license the SAM is available from version 7.2.0 [released September 2017] in the server so you won’t have to install the SAM separately on another server unless you have a need to do so. If you need to have multiple SAMs in your environment due to network segmentation then please contact support so we can help with your licensing needs.
