- For stand alone installation of the Snare Agent Manager on Windows:
Upon installation, start a browser and navigate to https://localhost:6261. Depending on your browser settings you may get a certificate error, this is due to the self signed certificate that was generated for the web interface during the install process. This certificate can be modified in the general settings section at any time after the setup wizard is completed.
Once your browser has access the log on page is presented for you to enter your Username ('admin') and Password (default 'admin'). This default password can be changed via the setup wizard. After login you are presented with the SAM dashboard. - For Snare Agent Manager running on Snare Central Server,
log in to the Snare Central Server web user interface and navigate to Agent Management | Snare Agent Manager. The Snare Agent Manager opens in a new tab.
Click Take me to the Dashboard.
- If your dashboard does not have any agent information, then you may add a network to scan for agents. The scan will search for all legacy (pre version 5.0) agents and version 5 agents.
- Your dashboard may already display agents, which may be set via the Snare Agent's Access Configuration page. The Snare Agent Manager IP field is updated to reflect the IP of SAM. If using localhost for your agent, this field will be localhost or 127.0.0.1.
The dashboard displays the following content:
Agents
A bar graph displays the communication status of the agents, either reachable or non-reachable. A reachable agent is an agent that SAM can communicate with, whereas an unreachable agent is an agent that has not been seen by SAM in the last five minutes.
The Class of Agents table will list the number of agents categorized by Modern, Upgradeable, OpenSource. You may select the graph icon to update the graphical representation of agents by operating system or agent type.
Licenses
Information on license usage is displayed here. The featured licenses are listed and the allowance is displayed in a bar graph. The active licenses and its expiry and support expiry is listed. Any license messages are listed, on expiring, allocation exhaustion, etc. Select the drill down icon adjacent the feature or active license to see the agents affected by the license information.
You can go to the license usage page by selecting the Detailed License Utilization button.
Networks
The networks are populated in this section, if they exist, displaying the number of agents found on each network and the date/time of the last scan.
If by this stage, you have not added your SAM license, selecting LICENSE in the dashboard and then add a license. The SAM license is available from the Snare License and Download Manager (SLDM) or your Snare representative.
