Snare Central v8.4.4 will be released on 26th April 2022.

Snare Central incorporates the Agent Management Console (AMC), Reflector v3.0.3, Snare Agent Manager (SAM) v1.5.2, and Snare Enterprise Agent for Linux v5.5.1.

If the threat intelligence component is active, version 6.8.7 of ElasticSearch is activated.

Overview

Snare Central version 8.4.4 is a patch release that includes system package updates and security patches only.

Security

  • Canonical/Ubuntu advised of a problem with Auditd and a kernel lockup that can occur in some kernels. The problem kernel version was in the Snare Central 8.4.3 release. If a customer has STIG enabled then the system may lockup. We have not had any specific reports on this but its prudent to update the Snare Central to the 8.4.4 patch as soon as possible to remediate the potential of any system lockup as it patches the kernel to 175 which has fixes in it.
  • Telnet not included on fresh install of Snare Central. Removal of telnet on upgrade will be addressed in future releases.
