Introduction
Linking of Data Blocks is very important and frequently used for
- Connecting - Linking any Image Data Block with other dashboard serving a icon or shortcut
- Filtering - Filtering of data from one Data Block to other
Prerequisite
- One or more Data Blocks.
Using Link
- Connecting
1.Add a Image Data Block
2. Link to an Dashboard or DataBlock
Select Home Dashboard
3. Click on Image Datablock, it will open the Home Dashboard.
- Filtering
1. Create a Cube Report whose data is to be filtered
2. Create a another Cube Report or Drillthrough to display the filtered data .
Note - Here in the Cube Report, the Measure and X axis selections can be same or different depending on the need. While the linking dimension needs to be same
3. Link the First Cube Report to Second Cube Report
4. Click on any of the sector from First Cube Report and respective data will get filtered and displayed in Second Cube Report
Using One Level Link
The "One Level Link" feature allows only to send filter from the clicked Data Block excluding the ancestor filters . Please see example below.
The Cube Report " Purpose" is linked to "Direction" and "Direction" is linked to "Segment Type". Here the "One Level Link" is not used in any linking. So Segment Type Data Block is receiving data which is filtered from Direction(Inbound).
Now "Direction" Datablock is linked with "Segment Type" with "One Level Link" enabled. Here "Segment Type" is not considering the filtered data present in "Direction" Data block.
