What is the Agent Management Console?

SUMMARY

  • Aug 18, 2015

The Agent Management Console (AMC) is a tool introduced within version 6.1 of the Snare Server that enables remote management of Snare Agents through the Snare Server interface.

The AMC allows for multiple configuration sets (objectives) so it is easy to manage different sets of Snare Enterprise Agents through the same interface.  There is no limit to the number of different master configurations that can be managed through the AMC.

Master Configuration

The AMC enables administrators to set up automatic audits of the configuration of Agents within their fleet.  A Master Configuration may be specified representing the required configuration of the Agents.  This Master Configuration is then compared to the actual configuration of each of the Agents within the fleet, and alerts are sent if any discrepancies are found.

The AMC provides the ability to:

  • push the Master Configuration out to each of the Agents under management to enable fleet-wide configuration changes from a central location

  • pull current configuration from a specific Master Agent to compare against the managed Agent configurations

The AMC also:

  • identifies any uncontactable Agents

  • from v6.1 can automatically detect Agents that report via ports 6161 or 514

  • from v6.1 can manage any Agents even if they are non-reporting
