The SAM can be configured to send email alerts if licenses are about to expire or if agents are not able to be licensed. Specifically, an alert is sent if
a feature license is due to expire within 30 days,
support is due to expire within 90 days, or
an agent fails to license, for example due to SAM being oversubscribed from the current license count.
Alerts will occur once a day.
- Outgoing Mail Server - Enter the mail server name or IP address for your outgoing mail server. Note you may be able to find this information in your email program if you are unsure. Leave blank if not using the email reporting.
- SMTP Port - Enter the port for your outgoing mail server
- Authentication & Encryption - The options to select from are dependent on if your outgoing mail server requires authentication. The Encryption option will support TLS up to v1.2 based connections when in use. When authentication is selected, SMTP Username and SMTP Password will be displayed. Enter this information to log in to the SMTP server. Options include:
- None - no authentication, port default is 25.
- Authentication with SSL - for sites using SMTPS encryption, e.g. bigpond.com
- Authentication with TLS - encryption e.g. gmail.com, live.com
- Authentication Only - no encryption on the contents of the username and password.
- Recipient Email Address - Enter the email address of the recipient who will receive the alerts.
- Sender Email Address - Enter a sender email address such as your organization or department. Some providers require that the sender email address matches the SMTP username.
Select Update to save your changes.
You can test the configuration by clicking Send a test email (ensure your changes are applied before attempting to send the test email).
