  • For stand alone installation of the Snare Agent Manager on Windows:
    Upon installation, start a browser and navigate to https://localhost:6261. Login with your credentials, using 'admin' as a username. After login you are presented with the SAM dashboard.
  • For Snare Agent Manager running on Snare Central Server,
    log in to the Snare Central Server web user interface and navigate to Agent Management | Snare Agent Manager. The Snare Agent Manager opens in a new tab.
  • When you access SAM for the first time after the installation, you will be greeted with a welcome screen with options to continue your journey with SAM. 
    Click Take me to the Dashboard.

  • If your dashboard does not have any agent information, then you may add a network to scan for agents.   The scan will search for all legacy (pre snare agents on the network. SAM v2 will discover Agents of version 5.0) agents and version 5 agents.4.0 or newer only. Legacy and Open Source agents may be displayed if they were discovered by earlier version of SAM. 



  • Your dashboard may already display agents, which may be set via the Snare Agent's Access Configuration page.  The Snare Agent Manager IP field is updated to reflect the IP of SAM.  If using localhost for your agent, this field will be localhost or 127.0.0.1.

A bar graph displays the communication status of the agents, either reachable or non-reachable.  A reachable agent is an agent that SAM can communicate with, whereas an unreachable agent is an agent that has not been seen by SAM in the last five minutes12 hours.

The Class of Agents table will list the number of agents categorized by Modern, UpgradeableLegacy, OpenSourceOpen Source.  You may select the graph icon to update the graphical representation of agents by operating system or agent type.

Information on license usage is displayed here.  The featured licenses are listed and the allowance is displayed in a  bar graph.  The active licenses and its expiry and support expiry is listed.  Any license messages are listed, on expiring, allocation exhaustion, etc.  Select the drill down icon adjacent Image Added adjacent the feature or active license to see the agents affected by the license information.
